Monitora Piu Piu

QMC UK

Monitora Piu Piu started training Capoeira with Contramestre Marcus Cabeca in 2006 and she has been training for over 12 years.

In 2017, she graduated to the title "Monitora" - the second stage of becoming a professional Capoeirista and also a recognition of her experience and standing within the School and community.

Monitora Piu Piu has trained Capoeira in both the UK and Brazil and performed with Brazil in the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Her vigorous training and dedication to the sport has led Monitora Piu Piu to participate in both the International and European Capoeira Championships, in which she was awarded 2nd place in the intermediate category.

Within the school, Monitora Piu Piu has been involved in the organisation and running a number of the school events, creating choreographies, training students for dances and routines in shows, and performing a number of traditional dances including Coco de Roda, Maculele and the dance of Oxun.

Graduado Tubarao

QMC DR

(ENG) *Graduado Tubarão* is from the city of Santiago de los Caballeros and has been training Capoeira for 9 years. He started in Capoeira in Santiago under Graduado Boa Vida from Grupo Axé Capoeira - Mestre Barrão in 2009. In 2013 he entered the same group under the direction of Contra-Mestre Marcus Cabeça in London.

In 2017 he decided to join Quilombo Marcus Cabeça Capoeira School and under the guidance of its founder, Contra-Mestre Marcus Cabeça, began to prepare to teach and form the new arm of the school: QMC Escuela de Capoeira - Dominican Republic.

Graduado Tubarão is also a psychologist, lecturer for the Psychology School at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra. He holds a master's degree in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy from the University of Derby in the UK. His vision of Capoeira, like that of Contra-Mestre Marcus Cabeça, is that it can be used as an agent for behavioural change in his students. Capoeira is a tool that can contribute not only to the physical, but also to the emotional wellbeing of a person, creating a sense of belonging, self-esteem and self-confidence.

It is with this objective that Graduado Tubarão promotes in its students healthy habits, discipline and good character in a positive atmosphere of camaraderie and respect.

(ESP) Graduado Tubarão es de la ciudad de Santiago de los Caballeros y ha estado entrenando Capoeira durante 9 años. Comenzó en la Capoeira en Santiago bajo el Graduado Boa Vida del Grupo Axé Capoeira - Mestre Barrão en el 2009. En el 2013 pasa a entrenar dentro del mismo grupo bajo la dirección de Contra-Mestre Marcus Cabeça en Londres.

En el 2017 decide unirse a Quilombo Marcus Cabeça Escola de Capoeira y bajo la guía de su fundador, Contra-Mestre Marcus Cabeça, comienza a prepararse para enseñar y formar el nuevo brazo de la escuela "QMC Escuela de Capoeira - República Dominicana".

Graduado Tubarão es además psicólogo professor de la Escuela de Psicología en la Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra. Tiene una maestría en Terapia Cognitivo-Conductual de la University of Derby en el Reino Unido. Su visión de la Capoeira, al igual que la de Contra-Mestre Marcus Cabeça, es que puede ser utilizada como un agente de cambio conductual en sus alumnos. La Capoeira es una herramienta que puede no solo contribuir al bienestar físico, sino también emocional de la persona, creando un sentido de pertenencia, autoestima, y confianza en sí mismo.

Es con este objetivo que Graduado Tubarão promueve en sus alumnos hábitos saludables, disciplina y buen carácter en un ambiente positivo de camaradería y respeto.

Monitora Monalisa

QMC UK

Monitora Monalisa started training Capoeira in 2010 with Professor Marcus Cabeca and has been training for over 8 years. Monalisa advanced to the Graduada ranking in 2017, to reflect her capabilities and experience in Capoeira and her progression within our school.

Monitora Monalisa has a real passion for Capoeira that is visible in her style and games - she has shown a strong dedication to learning new songs and developing her vocals. She has helped share her knowledge within the school, supporting students to improve their harmony, find their voice and most importantly bring axé (energy).

Monitora Monalisa is known for her artistic talent, she has decorated many Berimbaus and Cabacas for her own collection as well as the school. She has used this knowledge to lead workshops teaching students about the different styles and techniques that she has learnt and developed.
